Storm

The wind is picking up
And the trees sway all around
As the dark clouds approach
We get down to the ground

We ask, will the storm take us
We ask if we'll be safe
We pray for those around us
Even when we do not know their names

But in this night of horror
I'm walking out the door
I will not live in fear
Not here, not anymore

The storm is now approaching
But I am standing still
I will not bow before it
Come lightning, rain, or chill

I'm here to stand my ground
Even if it takes my life
No matter what it does
Until my final night

Now the wind is blowing fast
And the trees are falling down
I don't know where this will take me
But I'm standing for my town

We hope the storm will spare us
We wish for it to pass
But somewhere deep inside us
We know that we can last

The storm is here at last
As it rips apart our home
We all hold each other's hands
So we never feel alone

It takes away our belongings
It takes everything that's near
But as I look around us
We are all still standing here

As the storm passes
And the wind fades away
We hold each other closer
And we tell them all to stay

We stood against the storm
And we are stronger than before
We may have lost our stuff
But we'll rebuild once more

The storm cannot destroy us
